Baby Loss Awareness Week, known as BLAW, takes place annually from 9 - 15 October! This year, Softcat supported the campaign across our offices to collectively raise £6,037 for Sands, the UK’s leading pregnancy and baby loss charity. This is also the highest amount we’ve ever raised for the organisation.
We got active!
We’re pleased to have supported Sands’ very first Ribbon Run in Manchester. The event took place on Saturday 11 October in Heaton Park, and saw people from all walks of life walk, jog, run, and cycle between 5km and 15km to raise money for the charity.
We also hosted local Ribbon Runs across our Newcastle, Birmingham, Leeds, Marlow, London, Glasgow and Manchester offices. Employees banded together and took on 5km, 10km or 15km runs.
In what has become a much-loved tradition, we hosted a competitive charity football match, with players from our Marlow office. The match drew a great crowd – with supportive family members and colleagues all cheering on from the sidelines.
Lighting up our Marlow office in pink and blue
To support the BLAW campaign and to raise awareness of the pain many parents carry, we lit up our Marlow HQ in pink and blue lights (from 9 - 15 October). This is a pivotal part of Sands’ campaign, with many buildings across the country lit in these colours - representing diversity and acceptance. We’ve done this for several years and were pleased to continue our support in 2025.
What is Baby Loss Awareness Week?
It's a time for reflection, remembrance, and raising awareness of the impact of pregnancy and baby loss. It brings together bereaved parents, families, friends, and organisations across the UK, to commemorate the lives of babies who were lost too soon and to support those affected.
Coming together in solidarity and support
A huge thank you to all our colleagues who played a role in this campaign. We were also lucky enough to be supported by some fantastic local venues in Marlow for the run and the football match. Thank you to the team at the Little Marlow Athletics Track, and to Beaconsfield Town FC.
