Last night Softcat capped off a great year, collecting two awards at CRN's annual awards ceremony and gala dinner. The reseller, which successfully floated on the London Stock Exchange last year, won the prestigious Reseller of the Year award at an industry wide ceremony held at the Battersea Events Arena, London. In addition, Softcat's CEO Martin Hellawell was named the winner of CRN's 'Industry Achievement' award, recognising his contribution and overall service to the IT channel. In its first time in the category, Softcat was also shortlisted for the Public Sector provider of the Year 2016 award.

The awards follow a momentous year for Softcat which has continued to grow in its first 12 months as a public company and now employs over 1000 members of staff across six offices, the most recent opening in Glasgow earlier this year. When judging for the Reseller of the Year award which CRN lists as its 'top accolade', judges looked for an organisation who had done 'a particularly outstanding job' with an emphasis on significant revenue growth, industry accolades and investment in staff to provide the best possible service to customers.

Softcat's CEO Martin Hellawell was in attendance to collect the 'Industry Achievement' award, recognising his 'significant contribution to the industry over the last 20 years.' The award is the latest recognition for Martin who last week was named as 'CEO of the Year' at the UK Tech Awards.

Commenting on the awards, Martin said: "There are hundreds of resellers in the UK market and many of them are fabulous companies. To be recognised as the best of the best is a tremendous accolade and testament to the tremendous work the fabulous Softcat team put in day in, day out. We're very lucky to have a large number of extraordinary customers, many of whom we have worked with for several years. They keep driving us forward and making us a better company. And finally our vendor, distribution and service partners give us such tremendous support. So thank you to our employees, customers and partners for putting us on the podium."

Softcat's MD Colin Brown added: "What a fabulous evening. That's the fourth time in the last seven years that we have been recognised as the Reseller of the Year. Rest assured though, our feet will stay firmly on the ground and we are working harder than ever to ensure we keep improving as a company. I'd also like to recognise the Softcat Public Sector team who narrowly missed out on an award this evening but do a sterling job. Thank you to CRN and congratulations to all of tonight's winners."

Last night's awards add to a number of other prizes won by Softcat in the last 12 months including The Great Place to Work Institute's 'Best Workplace in the UK', Hewlett Packard Enterprise's Partner of the Year 2016 and more recently, Cisco's EMEAR Partner of the year.
