Softcat is proving its public sector credentials with another government framework sign up – ‘ICT Services for Education’. Softcat’s inclusion on the four-year framework, along with 20 other suppliers, will help it to deliver its solutions to an even wider education audience.

Schools spend around a quarter of their budgets on IT, and it’s important to get the best possible value from technology that enhances the learning experience. On this new government framework from the Crown Commercial Service (which replaces former Becta framework), Softcat is well-placed to advise on which IT can help the learning process and reduce workloads and planning time for teachers.

Sales director Jamie Burke said: “Securing a place on the CCS framework agreement is a significant milestone for Softcat’s education business, and comes as a direct result of 36 months hard work from the team. Softcat have always had a very clear vision that we wanted to work closely with academic clients of all shapes and sizes and gaining access to the schools market through CCS is the final piece of the jigsaw. We are genuinely excited to be bringing our 20 years’ experience of supplying IT solutions to a market that is screaming out for innovation and creativity.”

Nick Berry, head of education at Softcat, said: “We are absolutely delighted and I think our education customers will be too. Over the past three years we have built an exceptional education team and a loyal customer base who are keen to work with us on new school and rebuild projects. This award, coupled with our continued investment in graduate recruitment and apprenticeships across our five UK offices, really demonstrates our long-term commitment to the education sector.”

Softcat’s breadth of vendor relationships means that it has a hugely varied selection of technologies to provide schools and colleges, at highly competitive prices. It will provide a range of IT including hardware, software, networks and data services, and design and implement the infrastructure and solutions. Softcat’s expertise in the education sector will stand it in good stead; it is currently active on several other education frameworks.
