A massive £405,230 has been raised by staff, partners and customers at the Softcat Love2Give Ball – smashing the previous ball’s total.

Nearly 900 guests enjoyed an amazing night at Softcat’s 11th charity ball last week which included opening dance act Frobacks, laughing with comedian Josh Widdicombe, music from Halos band and an afterparty into the night with DJ Al. A lot of the fun on the night came from auctioneer Ed Rising – his chair walking and cajoling helping to boost the totaliser.

Graham Charlton, Softcat CEO, said: “The Love2Give Ball is an event of enormous significance to us and our industry.  It’s a chance to get together with friends and partners to raise money for some incredible causes and celebrate the impact this can have.

“I’d like to thank all of the people from within Softcat who contributed to and attended the event, you are an amazing team.  And I’d also like to thank all of our partners who came along and dug deep to raise a staggering record total of more than £400k. Working at Softcat and in this industry is a privilege, never more so than on nights like this.”

Who benefits from this money?

Softcat’s chosen charities Young Lives vs Cancer and Lyra in Africa will again benefit from the money raised, as well as our local office charities too. You can read more about how some of the last ball’s money was used here.

On the night guests heard from Lyra about the opening of its fantastic new hostel, part funded with Softcat donations, and from Callum Beale who shared his moving cancer story and how Young Lives vs Cancer supported him and his family.

He said: “It was an absolute pleasure speaking at the Love2Give ball! The audience were so supportive. I felt very touched that people came up afterwards, complimenting my speech and opening up with stories of cancer’s impact on their own lives. It is a relatable topic and really helps highlight that Young Lives vs Cancer is a worthy cause for the incredible amount of money raised."

Previously named the Softcat Charity Ball, the event is hosted by our Love2Give Network which encompasses all the volunteering and fundraising carried out by Softcat staff. The team works with representatives across all our offices to raise money and awareness for not only our chosen charity partners, but local charities too.

Charles Harman, Strategic Client Director and Love2Give Network lead, said: “On behalf of the network and Softcat, a huge thank you to all those involved in organising the event. We were genuinely blown away by the generosity and support shown by everyone on the night, and in the build up to the night. It was a real honour to unveil the newly built Lyra hostel in Tanzania which is a direct result of events like this. I'm really excited to see the difference we will be able to make to our fantastic charities with the money raised this year!”
