Softcat’s awards cabinet is bulging this month with the addition of yet another partner of the year award. The Check Point ‘European Growth Partner of the Year’ award follows similar recent accolades from Sophos, Barracuda and ESET. Softcat security specialist Paul Solomon accepted the award from Check Point’s vice-president of sales Bruno Darmon, CEO and founder Gil Shwed, and president Amnon Bar-Lev, at the ceremony in Barcelona.

“79% of all organisations had a mobile security incident in 2013; demand for security solutions is on the increase, which is reflected in Softcat’s Check Point business growth this year,” said Paul. “Check Point is a world-renowned provider of security solutions, and customers love its centralised management suite – they can manage all their products using one easy interface. As a company Check Point is continually investing in research and development, in order to ensure it is keeping abreast of new threats so that it can offer a more agile and secure infrastructure to continue to protect its customers from the myriad of security threats currently out there. We’re proud to facilitate this core security technology to our customer base.”

Softcat was Check Point’s fastest growth partner last year (208%), largely due to the many support services developed around Check Point’s products. Softcat recognised at an early stage that customers purchasing software, hardware and licensing from the Check Point portfolio often require support services too, which Softcat is able to provide from its 24 x 7 network operations centre (NOC). Customers need to ensure that their security products are up to date and working efficiently, and Softcat is able to fill this need through full management of their firewall estates, and telephone support to resolve issues.

Simon Walker, Softcat’s managed services director, said: “We’re thrilled with this recognition on the European stage from Check Point. We’ve steadily grown our managed services offering to capitalise on the growing customer demand for Check Point support, and we offer 24 x 7 telephone support through to fully managed firewall services. This in turn has enabled us to win more Check Point enterprise clients and has boosted revenues accordingly.” He added, “We have a great relationship with Check Point’s support teams in Israel and the US; they want to make sure we can give the best possible service to our mutual customers, and so give us lots of support and insight to new technologies on Check Point’s road map.”

Softcat, an official Platinum partner, has worked closely with Check Point since 2003. It’s also a certified managed services provider for Check Point.
