Nvidia’s AI factories are the premier GPU-based compute solution in the market today, driving impressive advancements in AI. This is why over 30,000 people travelled to San Jose to listen to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang speak on the future of AI, GPUs and what it all means for businesses of the future.

Its recent acquisition (for a modest $20B) of key Groq assets to lower the cost of inference puts Nvidia in the unique position of being able to cater to every part of the AI learning development cycle. These chips being included as an inference accelerator in Nvidia’s Vera Rubin platform were just one of the many announcements made during a whirlwind week.

I won’t spend your time listing announcements – this can be done using Google. Instead, I want to spend these precious paragraphs to share an observation from the week and the power of the Softcat machine that puts us at the heart of the many innovations released by Nvidia and our other technology partners.

Softcat’s superpower

During my time with customers and vendors there was a single thread that emerged. Our size, and breadth of both customers and vendors are our ultimate superpower, and when woven together provides the ultimate value proposition to our customers. We intimately understand their technology spend and businesses – through vertical alignment in advisory we can spot trends within an industry (Financial services for example) while also identifying horizontal trends across our technology towers.

Our unique visibility across customers allows us to join disparate organisations to one another, often providing value where other resellers simply cannot. When we bring together the likes of Specialists, Sales, Advisory, vendors and our customers, we truly are unique. This uniqueness is what will carry our customers forward into the future – whether that’s AI, quantum or something else entirely.

On the future

The GTC conference offered a glimpse of what is to come. NemoClaw, Nvidias secure offering of the now popular OpenClaw, promises an agent-filled future for everyone in the enterprise space. But we are still a long way from that, and the leaders of AI would be wise to recognise that this has a way to go. It is our jobs as custodians of technology to start guiding each other towards this future, as quickly and as safely as we can.

Whilst I heard promises that AI will augment the workforces of the future, one thing I know is that it will never replace the passion us humans hold in our heart to help one another succeed and win.
