At a lower overall cost, the new servers will bring customers excellent financial value but also serious technological advantages over their predecessors. HP believes that the Gen9 Servers have 3x the compute capacity of previous ProLiant servers. They also process multiple workloads efficiently, and perhaps most importantly for customers seeking greater value from their servers and storage, drive down the cost of ownership.
Softcat’s solutions director Sam Routledge said, “With the advent of cloud and the boom in use of mobile devices, data generation is rising exponentially. With it is the need for efficient, scalable and cost effective compute. HP has always been a strong technological player in the market, but with the launch of the Gen9 it’s taking a real step forward commercially – considering its features and capabilities this must be one of the most competitively priced products currently on the market.”
He added, “We think the Gen9 servers will really appeal to our customers, who are always looking to get the most value from their technology while continuing to utilise enterprise class performance.”
The ninth-generation ProLiant servers provide organisations still waiting to move to virtualisation with a cost-effective entry point. The products will also appeal to those seeking to store and deliver greater volumes of data at lower overall costs. As Windows Server 2003 comes to end of life many customers will be seeking new servers to support their applications.
Softcat is a platinum HP partner, and has a strong long-standing relationship with the IT provider. It recently won HP’s Partner of the Year for Storage award and Partner of the Year for Financial Services award.
