What is the application process?

If you visit the careers area page on this website that you are interested in, you will see a recruitment process that will outline the various steps involved.

How long is the application process for the entry level sales roles?

The process can take between 2-4 weeks generally, depending on when assessment days are being held. We hold assessment days either once or twice a month (depending on the office), and then we’re pretty quick at getting the face-to-face and final stage interviews in after that, so we’ll be as speedy as we can.

Is there a set time of year when sales executives start?

We offer eight different start dates which gives flexibility for candidates that want to start at different points of the year. We tend to hire in November, February, April and across May-September.

Do you have a minimum degree requirement?

No we don’t. We open roles up to people who have not been to university but can demonstrate good and relevant work experience instead.

Can I defer an offer?

We recruit all year round and we understand that life doesn’t always go to plan and can often change. Whatever your situation, we will try and accommodate your needs where we can and see if we can flex your start dates.

Will I have induction days before I start?

When you start you will be given a formal induction. This may vary depending on the area of the business you join. Please speak to your recruiters in the team to understand how it will look for you.

What benefits do you offer?

We offer good rewards packages for all of our roles (including Sales roles which come with uncapped commission). The benefits include pension, 22 days’ holiday (rising to 25 after a qualifying period) and a free day off for your birthday, plus a personalised rewards package called Perklife where you can select the perks and benefits to suit your lifestyle and needs.

Can I request an alternate application method?

Absolutely! We believe in making the application process accessible to everyone. If you need an alternative application method, please let us know. This could include anything from requesting a paper application to needing assistance with completing the online form - we're happy to discuss any options you'd be keen to explore. You can reach us via email at recruitmentteam@softcat.com or call us on 01628403532.

We're here to support you and ensure that you have a fair and equitable opportunity to showcase your skills.

Do you just hire graduates?

No, certainly not. Alongside our grad intake, we also welcome candidates straight from school/college, as well as those non-grads who can bring their valuable working experience from elsewhere.

What is your sales executive application deadline?

We’re constantly looking for new talent, so please do apply as soon as you want to be considered for the role. If you think ahead and want to apply for a role in the future, we’re happy to consider you for start dates in the following year for example.

Have you got any useful hints and tips on how to approach the sales interview process?

Yes, please see our infographic that will tell you everything to expect after applying for a sales role, and our top tips for success!

Will I receive feedback on my application?

Due to the volume of applications we receive, we can’t unfortunately give specific feedback, but if you request more detail, we will be happy to provide this.

Is there a formal graduate scheme?

We don’t offer a formal graduate scheme of a fixed period or rotations, however, we do offer a structured development programme within Corporate, Public Sector and Specialist Sales to ensure that when you join, you are supported and get the training needed to build a successful career.

How much flexibility is there on job locations?

We appreciate that you may have a change in personal circumstances that means you may need to move offices, and where possible we’ll try to accommodate.

Will you sponsor my ongoing professional development?

We are really big advocates for professional and personal development, and have a dedicated L&D function solely to support this. We like to encourage an ethos of you driving your own career and proactively seeking ways to develop, whether that be via on-the-job or formal training, we are here to support you!

What support networks exist?
