Carbon Neutrality Services

Softcat’s ISO 14068-1 Carbon Neutrality Services help customers quantify emissions, identify reduction opportunities, create robust carbon management plans and achieve internationally recognised carbon neutrality certifications.

What is carbon neutrality?

Carbon neutrality is achieved when an organisation measures its greenhouse gas emissions, takes steps to reduce them, and addresses any remaining residual emissions through recognised mechanisms.

A credible carbon neutrality strategy focuses on:

  • Understanding emissions
  • Reducing emissions where possible
  • Managing unavoidable emissions responsibly
  • Demonstrating transparent and measurable progress

Benefits of carbon neutrality services

Build trust

Demonstrate genuine climate action through independently verifiable carbon neutrality claims.

Strengthen ESG performance

Support sustainability reporting, customer requests and investor expectations with recognised international standards.

Reduce carbon emissions

Identify practical decarbonisation opportunities that reduce environmental impact and often deliver operational efficiencies.

Enhance competitive advantage

Differentiate your business in tenders and procurement processes where environmental credentials increasingly influence supplier selection.

Improve transparency

Provide stakeholders with clear, auditable evidence of progress towards sustainability goals.

Future-proof carbon claims

Align with evolving best practice and international expectations around carbon neutrality and net zero reporting.

What is ISO 14068-1?

ISO 14068-1 is the internationally recognised standard for achieving and demonstrating carbon neutrality. Unlike older approaches, it prioritises emissions reduction before offsetting, helping organisations build credible and transparent carbon neutrality claims.

The standard provides organisations with a framework for:

1

Measure

Understand greenhouse gas emissions and establish a carbon baseline.

2

Reduce

Identify carbon reduction opportunities and develop a decarbonisation pathway

3

Manage

Create a Carbon Neutrality Management Plan to guide ongoing carbon reduction.

4

Transition

Prioritise genuine emissions reductions through effective decarbonisation activities.

5

Offset

Address only residual emissions using credible and appropriate carbon credits.

6

Demonstrate

Provide transparent and independently verifiable carbon neutrality claims.
