This week we've seen some big Copilot updates from Microsoft. Copilot for Sales, Copilot for Service and Copilot for Finance are now included in the M365 Copilot licence, and Microsoft has also confirmed that Copilot for Planner will be joining them soon. Here’s a run-down of exactly what this means for you from October 2025.

Copilot for Sales

Until now, organisations with Dynamics or Salesforce as their CRM needed to purchase Copilot for Sales separately, in addition to M365 Copilot. With Microsoft's update, it’s now part of the M365 Copilot licence, and can be installed via the Microsoft 365 Copilot Agent Store.

What it does

Copilot for Sales brings CRM data right into your daily workflow. This means no more jumping between systems or digging for info. Whether you're prepping for a customer meeting or chasing down deals, Copilot sits inside Outlook and Teams to surface opportunity details, recent comms and company insights instantly. You can ask it to flag deals at risk, help build a close plan, or even update CRM records, all without leaving your workspace. It connects with Dynamics and Salesforce, meaning sellers can stay focused on selling, not admin. This also eliminates some of the human error, making sure your CRM records are up to date with accurate and useful information.

Why it matters

More time spent closing deals, less time spent chasing data.

Copilot for Service

Copilot for Service is designed to make life easier for frontline support teams. It pulls together CRM data, case notes and customer history into one clean view. This means your representatives aren’t wasting time hunting through systems.

What it does

You can generate a case summary in seconds, draft a resolution email with all the right context, and even update records without switching tabs. It’s built to work with tools like Salesforce, ServiceNow and Teams, meaning fewer clicks and faster responses.

Why it matters

More time spent helping customers, less time navigating systems.

Copilot for Finance

Finance teams can work directly inside Excel, Outlook and Teams to handle key tasks like variance analysis, reconciliation and managing accounts receivable, without the need to jump between platforms

What it does

You can surface financial data, generate insights and collaborate on reports in real time. It’s compatible with custom data sources via Copilot Studio, making it flexible enough to fit into existing workflows.

Why it matters

More time driving strategic decisions, less time buried in spreadsheets.

Copilot for Planner

Microsoft has already announced that Copilot for Planner will be included in M365 Copilot licences, which is a great addition for anyone managing tasks across a team.

What it does

Copilot for Planner helps you stay on top of what’s coming up, without needing to dig through different apps. It pulls together tasks from Planner, To Do, and Project for the Web, and shows them in one place inside Teams. You can ask it things like, “what’s overdue?” or, “what’s blocking this project?” and get instant answers. You can also use it to kick off new plans by describing your goals, and Copilot will draft tasks and timelines for you.

Why it matters

It’s designed to make task management feel less like admin and more like progress.

What this means for your team

Microsoft’s decision to bundle these role-based Copilot solutions into the M365 Copilot licence is a big step forward. It gives users more value and a consistent experience across departments. Whether you're in sales, service, finance, or just trying to keep your team organised, Copilot is becoming a real part of the day-to-day.

As we head into October, it’s worth taking a look at how these tools could slot into your workflows and where they might save you time, reduce admin, or just make things a bit smoother.
