My perspective on today’s threat landscape and why enhancing cyber resilience is key.

As I turn the page on 2025, it’s clear to see that the UK remains at the forefront of an increasingly complex cyber threat landscape. The familiar phrase of not ‘if’ but ‘when’ has been ever-present in conversations with organisations I have engaged with. From enterprise to mid-market, many are now adopting an ‘assume breach’ mindset – preparing, detecting and responding as if compromise is inevitable.

I have seen firsthand that cyber resilience is too often focused on a historically prevention-led lens. While prevention remains critical, true resilience can only be achieved through the right balance of cyber prevention and recovery. This means bridging the gap between infrastructure, cloud and cybersecurity teams and aligning tools to guarantee clean, reliable recovery that meets an organisation’s defined Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs).

Modern resilience demands more than just technology - it requires cultural discipline, regular training and scenario-based testing. Controls such as multifactor authentication, segmentation and Zero Trust architectures are essential, but so too are regular ‘cleanroom’ exercises and air-gapped testing to validate these recovery processes when it really matters.

Join Softcat’s Enhance Your Resilience webinar

With all these challenges in mind, our technologist, advisory and architecture teams have put together our ‘Enhance Your Resilience’ webinar  – click here to sign up. This session has been created specifically for business and IT leaders seeking practical, actionable guidance to strengthen their organisation’s cyber resilience.

As threat levels increase, organisations are also managing more complicated environments across private, public, SaaS and edge. Aligning these platforms to business and regulatory recovery objectives has never been more critical.

Why attend?

Hear from industry leaders

The session is hosted by Gary Hawkins, Chief Technologist for Cloud and Datacentre, alongside a panel of Softcat’s top experts in cybersecurity, operational resilience and advisory. You’ll hear real-world experiences from disaster recovery, ransomware response and the operational challenges organisations face today. The panel brings together strategic vision and hands-on expertise, ensuring guidance is both forward-thinking and practical.

  • Gain insight into the latest attack trends and how AI is shaping resilience frameworks, with a focus on practical defence strategies and regulatory expectations.
  • Hear technical perspectives on building recoverable infrastructure and designing trustworthy backup and recovery solutions aligned to business continuity goals.

Integrated strategies

Learn how to align technology, process maturity and independent advisory services to build a robust, unified cyber resilience strategy. The session explores the integration of business continuity, disaster recovery and cyber security practices, helping you move beyond siloed approaches and towards a more joined up, business-aligned resilience strategy.

Actionable steps

Discover practical steps for preparing your organisation before, during and after a breach. From scenario modelling and maturity assessments to vendor-agnostic recommendations for backup and recovery, you’ll leave with clear actions to improve resilience and ensure recovery processes consistently meet your organisation’s RTOs and RPOs.

Regulatory readiness

With new regulations such as the UK Cyber Security and Resilience Bill, organisations must maintain and test robust incident response and continuity plans. The webinar will help you understand how to meet these requirements and demonstrate readiness to regulators and executives.

End-to-end resilience: Learn how combining prevention and recovery capabilities, aligned to your organisation’s recovery time and point objectives, ensures true resilience against modern threats.
