In the latest iteration of the government’s G-Cloud framework agreement (G-Cloud 9), the Crown Commercial Service has awarded leading UK IT reseller Softcat a national contract to supply a total of 226 IT services to a broad range of public sector customers from government, health, education, charity and blue light sectors.
The G-Cloud framework is an agreement between the government and suppliers, such as Softcat, to provide cloud-based services and offers a far quicker and more cost-effective way for customers to access a wide range of products and services via the Digital Marketplace.
G-Cloud services are divided into three categories or ‘lots’. In each of these categories, Cloud Hosting, Cloud Software and Cloud Support, Softcat now offers an extensive range of services, from Microsoft products to cloud services.
Softcat’s public sector frameworks manager, Andy Bruen, said: “Winning a place on this latest framework agreement reinforces our public sector offering and allows us to provide a huge range of services to our customers via a trustworthy procurement route.
“The G-Cloud framework is one of the more straightforward frameworks for our customers to procure under and offers a vast array of different cloud-based IT solutions.”
Softcat is working with several partners to deliver G-Cloud services and has tendered at every stage of the framework’s evolution. Over the last five years, Softcat has strengthened its position and now works with more than 30 partners offering 226 different service provisions, including a comprehensive list of Microsoft products and over 140 different Microsoft services. Softcat has also renewed its Snow Software and ServiceNow offerings, which have proved extremely popular over previous iterations of the G-Cloud framework.
In addition to offering a range of proprietary cloud services, such as Softcat Cloud Transformation Service, Managed Network and Managed Firewall, Softcat has entered exclusive partner relationships with companies including IT service management firm, Alemba and Thycotic, which offers enterprise password management solutions.
