Softcat is delighted to announce that it has now raised over £2m for good causes since 2011, when the Softcat charity team was formed.

Formed of staff volunteers, the charity team has raised funds for good causes including Dreams Come True, Comic Relief, Cancer Research UK, MacMillan Cancer Trust as well as local homeless charities like Wycombe Homeless Connection and St Mungos.

Activities include individual and group activities such as marathons, skydives – and the slightly less strenuous pyjama days and cake sales. Softcat also volunteer people and transform our offices our offices into Comic Relief callcentres to take donations and support their annual campaigns.

The primary fundraising event is our annual Softcat Charity May Ball, from humble beginnings at the Marlow Rugby club, the Softcat Charity Team took an intimate company event and transformed it to the Softcat Charity May Ball which is now considered a highlight annual event in the IT Industry – this year alone raising £230,000 for our nominated charities. We’ve seen stars on stage like Lenny Henry, Lee Nelson, Romesh Ranganathan, Jamie Raven and Darcy Oake whilst enjoying parties at locations like The Grosvenor Hotel and the Roundhouse.

Michael Walker, head of the Softcat Charity team for the last seven years, said: “I’m very proud of the Charity Team and their achievements. They have been passionate about organising fundraising events in the workplace that yes raise funds for worthy causes, but they also ensure the staff at work have fun which in turn delivers the culture many of us value at Softcat. We see everyone in the company taking part and we’ve had many a Director in a ‘dunk tank’ over the years. We’re fortunate to see first-hand the difference this £2m has made to the charities and thank every member of staff for their support and contribution.”

Graeme Watt, CEO, said: “In our 25th year our focus on strong service levels and a unique culture is as strong as ever. Our desire to give back through charitable activity has accelerated, including an initiative to give two paid days to every member of staff for charity work – that’s the equivalent of 2,400 days dedicated to charity work each year. That is in addition to the financial contribution we are able to make to charities thanks to the outstanding work of the charity team. The Softcat charity team is employee-led and employee-driven, and I’m so proud of their initiatives and what we have achieved together.”
