What is Apple Business Manager & Device Enrolment?

Apple Business Manager is a new place for IT teams to automate device deployment, purchase and distribute content, and manage roles in their organisations. Working seamlessly with your mobile device management (MDM) solution, Apple Business Manager makes it easy to enrol devices, deploy content, and delegate administrative privileges.

The Device Enrolment Program (DEP) and the Volume Purchase Program (VPP) are seamlessly integrated into Apple Business Manager, so you can bring together everything needed to deploy iOS devices, Mac computers, and Apple TV in your organisation.

How does DEP & MDM work?

Through Apple's Device Enrolment Programme, we can offer a fast, streamlined & zero-touch way to deploy corporate owned devices, in combination with a mobile device management solution.

For Device Enrolment, customers will need an existing DEP or Apple Business Manager account. Once enrolled in the programme and administrative accounts are set up, MDM servers would need to be configured, user profiles set and linked to the Apple DEP account. Apple iOS, Mac and TV devices purchased from Apple or Apple Authorised Resellers, can then be assigned to the DEP account. When the Setup Assistant is completed, devices will be automatically enrolled in the MDM solution and configured with the correct settings and permissions for each user profile.

If your Apple devices have been purchased via Softcat, and need to be enrolled in DEP, we can assign the shipped devices on request. To enable this process, you would need to associate your DEP account with Softcat’s Apple Authorised Reseller ID: Softcat’s DEP ID is 395E9D0.

Please also make your Account Manager at Softcat aware, and to enrol all new Apple devices purchased in DEP. We can also back date and enrol any devices that were purchased after March 2011 if required.
