In two weeks time 940 Softcat employees, partners, friends and family will descend on London’s prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel, in aid of national children’s charity Dreams Come True. With attendees originally capped at 900, the event organisers squeezed in another 40 seats due to popular demand. Attendees are already discussing the event on Twitter and Facebook using the hashtag #SCMayBall.

The organising team hope to reach their fundraising target, an aim which they’re well on their way to achieving thanks to generous sponsorship from partners including NetCrowd, Northamber, Dell, Exclusive Networks, Samsung, QlikTech, Syscap, EMC, ASM Technologies, Lenovo, and McAfee.

“We’re stunned and so thankful for the phenomenal response from our generous partners and other sponsors”, said Michael Walker, representing Softcat’s charity team. “Dreams Come True is a charity really close to our hearts here at Softcat – we’ve been working with them for years. If we hit our £125,000 target, that money will go a long way to helping terminally ill children’s dreams come true.”

He added, “The atmosphere at Softcat is charged, and there’s still three weeks to go. Everyone here really gets on board at our charity events, from our Chairman Martin Hellawell to our new starts – it’s a really great culture, everyone gets involved and digs deep.”

The line up has officially been confirmed and attendees are looking forward to world-class entertainment including:

  • Spelbound – Britain’s Got Talent winners.
  • Stewart Francis – Comedian
  • Lee Nelson – Comedian
  • Charlie Hedges – DJ
  • FISH Percussion – Britain’s Got Talent Contestant
  • Jonny Gould – Auctioneer

Auctions and a raffle will also take place throughout the evening.

The May Ball is Softcat’s main charity fundraising event of the year, last year raising £200,000 from ticket sales and sponsorship. This year’s beneficiary is Dreams Come True, the charity for terminally ill children and young people in the UK.
