In August this year Softcat welcomed 23 new apprentices to its ranks as the solution provider built on the success of its training scheme. Softcat's apprenticeship scheme first started in 2014 and since then 17 apprentices have graduated to full time sales, technical and admin positions with the company, which was named as the UK's no.1 Best Workplace this year.
Working with training provider Remit, Softcat's 2016 apprenticeship scheme promotes a modern approach to learning and offers the chance to gain multiple qualifications including the City and Guilds Level 3 IT Professional certification. The 23 new recruits will be spread across seven departments including customer services, purchasing, technical support and corporate and public sector sales, in Softcat's Marlow and Manchester offices.
Martin Hellawell, Softcat's chief executive, commented: "It's fantastic to welcome this year's apprentices. The scheme has gone from strength to strength since it started and as an employer, we are proud of our ability to offer school leavers the opportunity to train, gain valuable experience and pursue a career in the IT industry."
"Nurturing talent is key to Softcat's success and our recent recognition as the UK's 'Best Workplace' and CRN's 'Best company to work for' underlines our commitment to employee satisfaction. From apprentices to seasoned professionals we offer multiple opportunities with outstanding long term potential and rewards. We have fully embraced the apprentice programme which is a new initiative for us and we are delighted with the incremental benefit it is bringing to the company."
