Softcat will now provide its software solutions to an even wider audience, having been awarded the tender of a single supplier collaborative framework for the Scottish public sector. The IT reseller won this opportunity following a rigorous competition process managed by NHS National Services Scotland.

The Software Services framework will enable organisations to attain the best value for their software needs by making the process of procuring goods more efficient and simple through a single supplier. The framework is an updated version of a contract previously used for Scottish NHS organisations, which will now benefit additional Scottish public-sector organisations (via the Scottish Government) such as central and local government departments, education and Scotland’s emergency services.

Softcat’s public sector sales director, Anthony Cowen said: “We decided to bid for this business to strengthen our offering to Scottish customers, with the aim of providing a highly reputable route to market for their software requirements. I’m pleased to confirm that winning this contract will directly lead to a boost in creating Scottish jobs. Softcat has already set about growing our Scottish public-sector team; within our Glasgow office.”

Softcat’s CEO Graeme Watt added: “I am delighted that Softcat has been awarded this tender. It is a great testament to our team, to NHS National Services Scotland and the broader market in Scotland. We are very pleased and excited by this award and now look forward to delivering on our commitments. Well done to everyone involved.”

Allied with a clear understanding of the customer needs and requirements in the market, the IT reseller won the tender opportunity by effectively demonstrating strong competencies in the software services marketplace.

Softcat is no stranger to the public sector, having already achieved widespread recognition within the NHS, government, education, blue light and defence sectors as a trusted technologies provider. Its expertise holds it in good stead to open the Software Services framework to all parts of the Scottish public sector.

Having opened a Glasgow office last year, Softcat has established a strong presence in Scotland staffed largely by ‘home-grown’ employees. Already with a portfolio of Scottish customers, this contract award will enable Softcat to foster closer working relationships with both existing and new public-sector clients located in Scotland.
