Softcat recently implemented Qlik’s business intelligence (BI) software Qlikview and, impressed by the business insight and amount of data that has been provided across multiple business systems, has partnered with Qlik to offer the solution to its own customers. Softcat started using the BI reporting platform in order to streamline its internal reporting with a view to improving business management back office functions and enhance its customers' experience.

Qlikview collects and organises business data, providing personalised reports to business users to allow them to make very quick organisational decisions. Its visual dashboards provide ‘one version of the truth’ to all users, and can be used across sales, finance, procurement and HR departments to name just a few. This is the first product of its kind that Softcat has provided to customers, and Softcat anticipates strong pick up from companies seeking to improve their reporting and streamline their management.

Sam Routledge, Softcat's solutions director, commented: “We took Qlik on as a vendor about a year ago, following a considerable amount of market research. I’m delighted to see that research confirmed when our systems development team selected it for our own internal use! The dashboards we have recently launched are very elegant and intuitive, and it is of huge benefit to the business to bring all this information together into one place in such a crisp and clear fashion. With the recent hire of our first BI and Analytics head we are looking forward to taking the Qlik message to our customers.”

Sean Farrington, Qlik UKI managing director, comments ‘We are delighted that a valued Qlik partner, such as Softcat, is not only selling QlikView but has now implemented it across their business. This will enable sales teams convey to their customers, the first hand benefits they receive from using QlikView every day, many of whom could also benefit from such a solution.’

Qlikview’s functions include:

  • Consolidating relevant data from multiple sources into a single application
  • Exploring the associations in business data
  • Enabling social decision making through secure, real-time collaboration
  • Visualising data with engaging, state-of-the-art graphics
  • Searching across all data—directly and indirectly
  • Interacting with dynamic apps, dashboards and analytics
  • Accessing, analysing and capturing data from mobile devices
