Softcat has achieved the business continuity management standard ISO 22301 in recognition of its excellence in business continuity and risk management processes.

The ISO 22301 standard for Business Continuity Management Systems (BCMS) is one of the most recent international business standards to emerge, replacing former British Standard BS25999. Softcat has already achieved ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 27001 (Information Security). These accreditations give Softcat customers the peace of mind of knowing that when it comes to the supply of their I.T. products, services, or infrastructure, their business is in the safest possible hands.

Doug Fawell, Softcat’s Operations Director, said: “At Softcat we take our business continuity and that of our customers very seriously, as we know the impact that the smallest disruption can have on a business’s reputation. No business is immune to risk, but implementing ISO 22301 across our business has improved our resilience against everything from natural disasters to technology failures. Having the business continuity management system in place helps us to ensure that in the event of an incident, we can respond effectively and continue our business operations with minimal disruption to our service levels.

“As a provider of managed services, and with a 24/7 Network Operations Centre (NOC) supporting our Cloud Softcat customers, it was crucial for us to put the most comprehensive system in place to maximise resilience, both for us and for our customers. Our technical manager Chow Tamana has been particularly instrumental in developing a solid business continuity management system that has directly led to our achievement of this standard, so a big thank you to him, and to everyone else who has helped us to achieve this.”

With a wide variety of customers relying on Softcat for managed services, it’s imperative that Softcat adheres to the very best international standards. Preparation for achieving the ISO 22301 standard included identifying and analysing the key processes and procedures throughout the entire business, to assess business risk, the impact a business continuity related incident could have on core services, on reputation, and the potential for financial loss.

The ISO standard is written by leading business continuity experts to provide the best framework for managing business continuity in an organisation. Successful organisations use it to protect their brands, to ensure continuity, and to safeguard the reputations and interests of key stakeholders in the event of disruptive incidents.

Having implemented the process first hand, Softcat is well-placed to advise customers looking to improve their business continuity management processes and their IT resiliency. For more information contact your Softcat account manager or call 01628 403403.
