As a Sales Apprentice, you'll earn from your very first day while gaining the essential skills you need to build a rewarding and fulfilling career. On our 12-month Apprentice Program, you'll gain the business, communication and technical skills you need to succeed in sales.

How to apply

To apply for a Softcat Apprenticeship you need one A-level or five GCSE's (inc. English & Maths) at C Grade or above.

To win your place you'll need to be a quick learner and a genuine people person. Someone who can always be relied upon to have a positive and enthusiastic outlook.

Training plan

3-week induction program

Your training starts with an intense 3-week induction program where you'll learn about Softcat, meet our business leaders and start to learn about sales and IT.

Gain City and Guild qualifications

Combining assessments and on-the-job training, you'll earn a range of City and Guilds qualifications in ICT at Levels 2 and 3.

Earn industry-recognised accreditations

Our top-tier partners deliver training through Academy workshops, giving you the opportunity to earn additional specialised accreditations.

Quarterly IT and sales training

Our Apprentice Program takes a tiered approach to learning, so each quarter your training builds on specific IT focus areas and sales skills.

1-2-1 coaching

You'll receive ongoing coaching throughout your apprenticeship, and your mentor is there to support you over the 12 months.

Specialised apprenticeships

Looking for non-sales apprenticeships? We offer specialised apprenticeships in various roles including Operations, Purchasing, Customer Service and Technical. Get in touch to learn more.

Progression plan

Account Executive

When you graduate from the Apprentice Sales Program, you'll join our other Account Executives on a 12-month sales course designed to build on the skills you have.

Account Manager

You'll have total responsibility for your own portfolio of customers. From here you can choose to focus solely on maximising your own business, or you can help others grow too.

Mentor

If you want to take on management responsibility, you'll be given the opportunity to become a Mentor after 18 months.

Senior Account Manager

Focusing on an account manager role will see you become a Senior Account Manager, Account Director then Senior Account Director as your business grows.

Team Leader

If you thrive as a Mentor, you'll become a Deputy Team Leader and then a Team Leader. In these roles, you'll earn bonuses based on your team's performance as well as your own commission.

Telephone interview

Our recruitment team will give you a call to tell you more about our Apprentice Program, as well as exploring your long-term career goals. If you impress us, we’ll arrange a face-to-face interview.

Face-to-face interview

Meet our recruitment team and get to know Softcat a bit better. Our program is designed to rapidly accelerate your career. You’ll need to prove that you’re committed, eager to learn, and ready to work hard.

Interview with Apprentice Manager

If you have what it takes, you’ll have another interview with the Apprentice Manager to see how you’ll best fit into the team. Our apprentices are a tight-knit group, and we want to ensure you all thrive together.

Interview with Team Leader

If you’re applying for an apprenticeship in a non-sales area, you’ll be interviewed by an appropriate Team Leader, and we’ll be looking for the same personal qualities and attitude.

Welcome to Softcat!

If you're successful at this stage of the recruitment process, we'll offer you a place on our Sales Apprentice Program at our Marlow or Manchester office, and you'll start the following August.

Assessment workshop

You’ll learn more about Softcat and meet some of your potential future colleagues, as well as taking part in group activities to test your teamwork skills.
