On Friday 11th May, Softcat hosted an event in Ystradgynlais to showcase mobile technologies from major mobile device manufacturers. The event, organised in conjunction with Powys County Council and promoted by Value Wales, attracted attendees from 4 Local authorities and around 20 schools across South Wales.

The Crescent Purchasing Consortium (CPC) has appointed Softcat, among a select group of suppliers, to provide backup, archiving and networking solutions to a wide range of institutions involved in further education throughout the UK.
LSB are a vertically integrated industrial packaging and solutions provider, currently over 2000 employees across 9 countries and 15 sites. With a fragmented and siloed IT function spread across the three divisions of the business, along with multiple IT helpdesks and a mixed array of management software. They called on the expertise of Softcat and partner Apajove to implement a single Microsoft System Center solution to regain control and significantly cut costs.
Softcat has recently signed up the 100th customer to use its managed firewall support service. The service, which forms part of Softcat’s growing managed services security portfolio, offers clients proactive availability monitoring and protection against malicious attacks over the Internet.
Softcat has won two major awards – Partner of the Year and Corporate Reseller of the Year – at the EMEA Partner Connections 2012 conference hosted by Sophos, the developer of security software and hardware, at the Grand Hotel Princesa Sofia in Barcelona.
The SUPC Universities purchasing consortium has selected Softcat, along with five other suppliers, to provide IT related parts and accessories to over 100 higher and further education institutes in the UK.
Employees and partners of Softcat used their May Ball on Friday 4 May to raise £100,000 for their charity of the year, the Wooden Spoon Cancer Care and Haematology Unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
Softcat has achieved ISO 27001 certification. It is now fully compliant with the international standard for managing information security and maintaining customer confidentiality.
Softcat has made the shortlist for three of this year’s MicroScope Awards for Channel Excellence (ACEs), which celebrate the best-performing organisations in the IT channel.
