Softcat to supply backup, archiving and networking solutions to the education sector

The Crescent Purchasing Consortium (CPC) has appointed Softcat, among a select group of suppliers, to provide backup, archiving and networking solutions to a wide range of institutions involved in further education throughout the UK.

Softcat has been successful in adding two framework lots – ‘backup and archiving’ and ‘networking equipment’ – to the four that it was awarded by the CPC in January. The CPC had decided to defer these lots, which form part of its framework contract for ‘network hardware and services including servers and data storage’, until later in the year.

The contract is the second that the CPC has awarded to Softcat in the last two years. It has already selected the IT reseller for desktop hardware and peripherals. Many institutions within further education, as well as academies, private schools, free schools, British museums, adult education colleges and other education institutions, will now also benefit from the backup solutions, data archiving and networking solutions that Softcat offers.

Andy Bruen, Softcat’s public sector frameworks manager, commented, “This award follows hot on the heels of our Commercial Partner of the Year accolade from Cisco and winning HP’s Storage Partner of the Year Award, which should see CPC’s membership benefit from our stand-out competencies in storage, backup and networking. It’s another important step forward in our strategy to expand and grow our service offering into further education and the wider education space.”
