Last night VMware, the leading vendor in the virtualisation and cloud space, presented two awards to IT provider Softcat at an executive dinner at the Haymarket Hotel in London. Softcat finished the evening with both the ‘Partner of the Year’ award and the ‘Small Business Partner’ award.

In the prestigious ‘Partner of the Year’ category, Softcat fought off tough competition from the likes of Kelway, SCC, Insight, OCSL, DTP and ANS. The award recognises excellence in technical, sales and marketing execution. In the last year, Softcat has sold and delivered VMware solutions to more customers than any other VMware partner. The ‘Small Business Partner’ award recognises Softcat’s excellence in delivering VMware solutions to small and mid-market businesses.

Softcat’s solutions director Sam Routledge said, “We are using VMware technology to save our customers money, to make their infrastructure more resilient and more agile, and to move towards device-independent computing. We are proud of this partnership and delighted to receive these awards.”

Martin Hellawell, Softcat’s managing director, added, “I’d like to congratulate everyone at Softcat whose efforts have made this possible. We have worked hard to build a virtualisation practice that is second to none, and to have the leading vendor confirm that we are doing a great job is very encouraging.”

In addition to its VMware awards, Softcat has won a number of other awards and accreditations in the last two years, including Reseller of the Year at the CRN Channel Awards, Dell UK and EMEA Partner of the Year, HP Mid-market PSG Reseller award, Mimecast Premier Partner of the Year, Sophos Mid-Market Reseller of the Year, and Symantec Commercial Partner of the Year.
