Softcat partners with Box to boost G-Cloud services for public sector organisations

Our News Wed 12th, Jun 2013 by Dave Simpson
This week Softcat announced a new exclusive partnership with content sharing and business collaboration platform Box to further enhance its Government G-Cloud services. Softcat will offer Box to its public sector customers looking for a simple and secure way to share, organize and collaborate on their content in the cloud through the Government Procurement Service (GPS) Cloud-Store portal.

Increasingly, collaborative-focused cloud services are being adopted within the public sector to deliver faster business benefits and reduce costs. Together, Softcat and Box will be able to supply their customers with best-of-breed services, including enterprise-grade file sharing, ultra-secure FTP replacement, feature-rich project collaboration and a host of purpose built partner apps ready for deployment. Box is a trusted brand. It recently received the highest rating possible, “Strong Positive,” in Gartner’s MarketScope for Enterprise File Synchronization and Sharing¹.

Andy Bruen, Softcat’s public sector frameworks manager, said “Box is a highly esteemed G-Cloud partner for Softcat. The similar dynamic cultures of both organisations has made working together effortless.” He added, “We’ve seen significant customer interest in Box’s technologies, and are even prepared to offer our customers 30-day free trial periods to see the service in operation for themselves, at first hand.”

Wayne Cook, vice president of channel & alliances in EMEA for Box, said “Traditional legacy IT solutions are no longer meeting the needs of public sector organisations and businesses across the UK, as they are looking to collaborate and manage their critical documents easily and securely from anywhere and on any device. Our strategic partnership with Softcat and embracement of the G-Cloud framework removes the barriers to public sector-wide cloud adoption by delivering a flexible and scalable platform that supports government programmes, policies and strategies.

Since its inclusion in the G-Cloud framework last year, Softcat has introduced several of its partners’ services into its G-Cloud portfolio. The Box platform is available to government customers exclusively through Softcat.
