On Friday 11th May, Softcat hosted an event in Ystradgynlais to showcase mobile technologies from major mobile device manufacturers. The event, organised in conjunction with Powys County Council and promoted by Value Wales, attracted attendees from 4 Local authorities and around 20 schools across South Wales.

In attendance, demonstrating their range of products and solutions were:

  • Samsung
  • Fizzbook
  • Lenovo
  • Avantis
  • Toshiba
  • HP
  • Databubble
  • Keep It Secure
  • Acer

The event enabled local schools and councils to share ideas and challenges around enabling teachers and students to get the most from mobile technologies.

Nik Contantinescu, from a local school said  “Just writing an email to let you know that the event was a great success as far as I am concerned. You have brought all the people together that I needed to speak to.”

During our seminars, Softcat also gave attendees the chance to discuss the products and solutions with teachers and ICT representatives from other schools.

Hayley Bennett, a teacher from a school in Powys said “I am a very enthusiastic teacher who has a passion for teaching ICT. The show definitely gave me the opportunity to discuss with experts, the technical side and being able to forge links. “

The exhibition hall gave attendees the chance to touch and feel the products and chat to the manufacturers in more detail about their specific requirements.

Floris Blok from Samsung very much enjoyed the event, and said “Thanks for letting us join you on this great opportunity to present directly to your customers”

Softcat also ran a free prize draw to all attendees to win a sports kit for their school, and are happy to announce the winning school as Ysgol Maesydderwen.

Softcat are keen to run future such events for other Local Authorities. If you have a topic you would like covering at an event in your area, let us know.
