Softcat Sport Relief Day Success!

Softcat’s charitable activities for 2012 got off to a flying start today, raising more than £15,000 for ‘Sport Relief’.

Employees came to work dressed as their favourite sports personality or team, each donating £5 for the privilege. They took part in several ‘sports day’ events, including a wheelbarrow race and three-legged race.

Everyone pulled together to make the day a success: the operations and customer services department organised a cake sale, and the managed services department held a ‘Call of Duty’ competition. Martin Hellawell, Softcat’s managing director, once again put on his chef hat and headed up a BBQ at the Marlow head office, cooking over 230 burgers.

Afternoon entertainment took the form of a ‘dunk your boss’ extravaganza. Managers bravely subjected themselves to a water dunking contraption whenever their colleagues raised a £100 bounty. Not surprisingly, the company succeeded in raising £100 for each and every volunteer!

A raffle succeeded in raising over £8,000, enticing Softcat employees with donated prizes, including a holiday in Spain and the right to use the chairman’s parking space every Tuesday for a year. An auction for an Arsenal and Spurs signed football shirt contributed another £1,150.
