Solutions and Services Business Development Team
We’ve invested heavily over the last three years in growing our Services and Solutions offering, and we’re keen to accelerate this growth. Softcat are increasingly looked upon as the leading infrastructure provider to the UK mid-market, and with top-level accreditations from VMware, HP, NetApp and many others we are perfectly placed to deliver. Our Services and Solutions business is growing at three times the rate of the organisation as a whole, so we are keen to capitalise on this growth by bringing some keen, dynamic individuals into our team.
We’re looking for a commercially-focused person with a strong overall understanding of technology trends, and with the ability to translate a customer’s business requirements into a potential solution. You will need to be able to passionately persuade our customers that we can deliver, and help our account managers to work through complex, high-value deals, often involving a mixture of internal resource and partner organisations. We would also expect you to work with our Services Director to ensure Softcat are aligned to the correct technologies.
Our networking team works predominantly based upon Cisco and HP Networking technologies, delivering core network bandwidth and resilience, IP telephony and unified communications solutions. Increasingly the team is working with our storage and virtualisation team on converged infrastructure projects, which is looking very exciting – and our alignment to HP, Cisco, EMC, NetApp and VMware puts us in a prime position to capitalise on this industry development. You would be working with our 120-strong account management team to find, progress and close deals and projects in this space, as well as to help us define and refine our offering and make sure that we are aligned to the correct technologies.
Softcat’s relationship with Cisco is developing rapidly, especially around the Cisco Security solution set and they have acknowledged this by committing to part fund a sales-focused individual to assist Softcat in all Cisco Security related opportunities, whilst also ensuring we are making the most of rebate and incentive programmes available to us.
This individual will have responsibility for, and be rewarded accordingly on:
- Educating Account Managers and Security Specialists on all Cisco Security solutions and programs.
- Support sales across the entire sales floor all the Cisco Security solution sets.
- Maintaining the ongoing Softcat/Cisco relationship.
- Organise and run training and sales related spiff days.
- Call into existing and net new Softcat accounts to help generate opportunities
- Ensuring that in all cases we maximise the opportunity for deal registration and similar programmes
This role is aimed at developing the current Cisco partnership and growing the customer base within Softcat, this will include internal calling and face to face customer meeting with the Security Team where. The assigned person will be responsible for internal lobbying, ensuring that Cisco Security solutions and services are constantly top-of-mind amongst the Softcat team.
Softcat’s relationship with HP goes from strength to strength, with year-on-year growth outstripping the market significantly. We are looking to accelerate this success by employing a sales-focused individual to assist Softcat in making sure that we are taking HP into every possible opportunity, and also that we are making the most of rebate and incentive programmes available to us.
This individual will have responsibility for, and be rewarded according to:
- Softcat’s attach and penetration rate for services alongside hardware sales
- Softcat achieving ‘best-in-class’ product mix according to HP metrics – for example blade server vs rack
- Softcat’s use of the HP Professional Services Partner programme to deliver implementation services for HP equipment
- Softcat’s sales levels for HP proactive and premium support services
- Ensuring that in all cases we maximise the opportunity for deal registration and similar programmes
This role is approximately 60% customer facing sales, and the individual in question will be expected to assist our 120-strong account management team in positioning HP offerings such as blade servers and Proactive Select to their customers. It is also approximately 40% an internal lobbying role, to ensure that HP solutions and services are constantly top-of-mind amongst the Softcat team. Success in the former will of course drive the latter.
The role would suit someone with at least two years of industry experience, and ideally knowledge of HP and their programmes. Salary will be in the region of £30-35k basic with an OTE of £10-15K.
